Situated in the north of Arusha, Tanzania, Mount Meru is an active but dormant volcano. With a height of 4562 metres it is Tanzania's second-highest mountain and the fourth highest mountain in Africa. Mt. Meru has happened to a well-liked "warm-up" hike for Kilimanjaro climbers. Because at the height of 4562 metres, your body will adapt the changes of altitude sickness, your preparation for climbing Kilimanjaro will be much better. It dominates Arusha National Park with its huge cliffs. On the way of your trek, you are more likely to see giraffes, antelopes, buffalos, and baboons.

We’ll pick you up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and bring you to your hotel in Arusha. There you’ll be able to meet your guide and go through a pre-climb briefing.
We’ll drive to Momela Gate where we’ll start walking. We’ll have a ranger escort for this part and will be able to spot animals like elephants, zebras, and giraffes. When we reach Miriakamba Hut after 4-6 hours of hiking, we’ll all eat together
On our second day hiking we’ll have a short but steep climb to Saddle Hut. On the way we’ll get awesome views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone. We’ll hike for 3-5 hours on this day.
We’ll start very early (1.30 am) and with a steep incline. We’ll reach the summit just as the sun is rising. If we’re lucky we’ll get awesome views of Kilimanjaro Peak. We’ll then hike along a spectacular narrow ridge line before we begin to make our descent. We’ll stop for lunch at Saddle Hut then go all the way to Momella gate where you’ll be picked up to travel back to Arusha/Kilimanjaro/Moshi.
