Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha-Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel or from the Airport by the driver/guide and drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is well known for its large elephant herds. From the open roof of the safari jeep you will experience the seasonal swamps, savanna and Tarangire River in search of many animals including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant and giraffe. After a full day in the park, you will drive to Kankari Lodge where you will be able to relax and enjoy dinner and have an overnight.
Accommodation: Kankari Lodge

Day 2: Tarangire NP - Serengeti National Park (Northern) - Mugumu

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Northern Serengeti National Park for a game drive on the way you will stop at a Maasai village to get an insight in the lifestyle of these graceful warriors. Upon arrival in the Serengeti, you first have a picnic lunch and then continue with a beautiful game drive. There is a big change you can see the Great Migration of wildebeest crossing the Mara river in this area of the Serengeti between May and July. The herds must outsmart the crocodiles and fast flowing water before facing predators waiting on the other side. The vast plains of the Serengeti comprise 1.5 million ha of savannah. The annual migration to permanent water holes of vast herds of herbivores (wildebeest, gazelles and zebras), followed by their predators, is one of the most impressive natural events in the world. Later you will drive to Mugumu Town that is outside the park for dinner and overnight at La Tonna Safari Hotel.
Accommodation: La Tonna Safari Hotel

Day 3: Serengeti National Park - Mara River Crossing - Wildebeest/Zebra Migration

After an early Breakfast, you will head out to make the most of the day. There is a chance you may see the animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side but no animal will make a move. All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the literal plunge and, then, all follow! The animals that do successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it over the river are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the Masai Mara. Dinner and Overnight at La Tonna Safari Hotel in Mugumu Town.
Accommodation: La Tonna Safari Hotel

Day 4: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will wake up early to do an early morning game drive after breakfast. You will descend to the crater, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, and a soda lake that from the top looks like steam, full of flamingos, a forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. After a 5 hour of game drive, you will drive Twiga Lodge, where you will be able to relax and enjoy dinner.
Accommodation: Twiga Lodge

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park-Arusha

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara is a relatively small but diverse park, 120km west of Arusha. The park's namesake is a shallow, Salt Lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On your exploration of the park, you will see monkeys, giraffes, zebra, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab-dotted cliffs. After a full day game drive, you will return to Arusha where your safari ends, or be transferred back to Airport.
